Parents discuss the letter they've received for their daughter: it's from the College of her choice, and they have no idea if she's been accepted. As they talk, it's revealed their daughter wants nothing more than to be a clown, and they're in anguish.
They admit all the signs have been there since childhood: the endless jokes, handkerchiefs, always "something up her sleeve".
Then it all comes out: they've always wanted her to be mime artist - like them.
Then the father confesses he helped her with the audition, and they come the realization their daughter's happiness is more important than any show.
